Jim "The Hammer" Parker Retires From The Guitardogs

News from the pound is always written with a light hearted approach, mainly centering on the band's future and past gigs and other items of interest we feel our devoted faithful would like to hear. Sadly, we start this bulletin with a heavy heart.

"Jim Parker, the backbone of the band's rhythm section for the last 17 years, has decided to call it quits. Jim has been playing through problems with his wrist and arms for some time now and was planning on leaving upon the completion of our 2005 schedule. However it was not to be. Succumbing to the messages from his body "The Hammer" decided to throw in the towel before our Gig on September the 10th at Big Heads in Warminster.

"Realizing our collective obligation to the audience, the tavern's owner, and our reputation,(not rain, snow, sleet , or gloom of... oops that's someone else's motto – well you get the picture) we frantically began our search for a temporary replacement!

"Thanks to the capabilities and help of our far reaching network of musician type friends, we were able to locate a great drummer who happened to be available, willing, and familiar with a large part of our repertoire. The gig came off without a hitch and the ownership has asked us to play at all of their establishments. We would like to thank Don McCormick for bailing us out and doing a heck of a job on such short notice.

"Don will be playing with the band, so next time you're out to see us play, come up, say hi, and let Don see why we have the greatest following on earth!

"In closing we would like to wish Jimmy the best, it has been an honor and a privilege, not to mention one hell of a ride!!!!
